to the enhance Fas-mediated apoptosis a n d activate the JNK pathway (1). Apoptosis signal-regulating kinase 1 (ASK1) controls the dual function of Daxx as a transcriptional repress o r in the nucleus a n d as a proapoptotic signal mediat o r in the cytoplasm (2). Daxx associates with various proteins, including promyelocytic leukemia protein (PML) a n d heat shock protein 27, lending significance to their roles in tum o r suppression a n d Daxx-mediated apoptosis (3,4).
