Background Fibroblast growth factor-7 (FGF-7) is a mesenchymal cell-derived paracrine growth factor that specifically stimulates epithelial cell proliferation, has been implicated in the repair of lung tissue[1]. FGF7, also known as keratinocyte growth factor, insofar as it displays a unique cell specificity. FGF7 binds to perlecan protein core and that exogenous perlecan efficiently reconstitutes FGF7 mitogenic activity in perlecan-deficient cells[2]. |
